The heart of Cosmic Writers lies in our instructors: passionate college students who design and teach our workshops. And because our workshop partners come from all around the United States, it’s important to us to maintain an instructor network that we can contact whenever a new opportunity arises. If accepted into the network, you’ll be the first to know about these opportunities, and we’ll do our best to match you to a program as soon as possible. Instructors are always paid for their work.

Right now, we are particularly seeking Philadelphia- and NYC-based instructors to teach in-person workshops. We hope to hear from you soon!

A Note on Types of Teaching Opportunities

Our workshops take many forms: both virtual and in-person, and ranging from one-day class visits to month-long afterschool programs. Check out our Partner Programs and Word Camp pages for more detail about the types of workshops taught by Cosmic Writers instructors.

Different opportunities also have different requirements for how much curriculum design our instructors do. In some of our programs, like Word Camp, instructors have complete freedom to design and teach workshops in a genre of their choice. In other programs, partners choose a workshop from our course catalog, and the instructors’ job is to adapt our basic curriculum so that it best fits the needs of the partner. Alternatively, a partner might request something entirely new, and the instructors work with the programs team to create a workshop designed specifically for the partner organization.

No matter the parameters of each workshop opportunity, Cosmic Writers makes sure to train and support instructors through the design and teaching process, and adjusts the stipend in keeping with the amount of time required of the instructor.
